I remember bursting into tears during a class about 7 years ago, which is very out of character. I don’t cry often and never openly in public like that. Yet, on that particular day, emotions welled up within me, spilling over uncontrollably. The people around me, whom I didn’t know that well, tried to comfort me, not knowing what was wrong but still sharing words of love and wisdom. It makes me smile to think how lovely they were, especially as we didn’t really know each other that well. I headed to the bathroom to gather myself, and when I returned, the teacher was handing out gifts as it was one of the last classes with her. On the front of the folder were the words “The Desiderata” which is one of my favourite pieces. As our teacher began to recite its verses, I found myself overcome with awe as the universe, as usual, was delivering a timely message to me when I needed it the most:
“And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.”
I felt instantly comforted.
Since that occurrence, I have often found solace in those words, invoking them as a source of strength and resilience in times of uncertainty. They help me not only to accept what is happening at the moment but switch my mindset into a more positive space. They remind me that a greater cosmic order exists—a reassurance that propels me forward with renewed optimism and faith.
What pieces, quotes or advice bring you this type of comfort? I would love to hear them in the comments!
"And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should” This statement really lifted me when I read it. Thank you
