Sun, Swims, and a Sprint on the Sand: An Afternoon at Buccoo Beach, Tobago

I was alone. I'd come to meet my friend and her family, who had already been there for a while. They needed to get lunch, so after liming with me for a bit, they left. I lay back on one of the beach chairs they'd rented and had a snooze.

I got up, a bit hot, and decided it was time for a swim. I submerged. I floated. I felt refreshed. I returned to the seat.

Time seemed to pass slowly that afternoon. I had nowhere to be, so I had another snooze.

Sitting up to have some water, I saw a group of guys lining up — they were about to race! I grabbed my camera from my bag, slunk down to the sand, and started shooting as they ran by. The whole beach was watching as they moved swiftly across the sand. Back and forth, many times, many races — two, maybe three, fellas competing. I smiled and returned to my seat.

I was full of energy now, feeding off the vibration the race had created. Even as a spectator I could feel the excitement. I was also sandy from my shooting position. The only thing to do was to have another swim to wash off. I submerged. I floated. I felt refreshed and returned to my chair for another snooze.
